How Housing is Assigned

An approved Animal Use Form and complete training is required prior to being assigned an animal housing room.

Assignment of animal housing space by Campus Animal Resources is based on:

• Biosecurity level (health status) of incoming animals
• Compatibility with other species at each location
• Specific research project needs

Animals of the same species and biosecurity level belonging to multiple researchers will be housed in the same room.

Room assignment is reviewed by: Operations Supervisors, Veterinary Staff, including the Attending Veterinarian.

Rooms are not assigned to specific researchers.

Animals may be moved to different rooms within a facility with prior notification of the investigator(s) to accommodate additional incoming animals or health status changes.
