Personnel involved in care, treatment, and use of animals by law must complete training in proper care and to minimize their use in teaching and research. Most protocols require the following online courses at minimum:
Subject/Course | How to Complete |
---|---|
IACUC Tutorial | Included in farm, rodent user tracks. Others: Log in & Launch |
Biosafety
|
Included in farm, rodent user, lab safety tracks. Others: add Biosafety Principles track. Ensure that you complete all three courses. |
Species-Specific | Included in farm, rodent user tracks. Others: see Species-Specific training options |
To simplify training assignment, required courses are grouped into learning tracks for farm employees, rodent users, laboratory workers. Work with your supervisor to ensure you have the appropriate learning tracks assigned in the training system.
A medical questionnaire is required for all paid MSU employees and all those listed on IACUC protocols regardless of pay status who regularly work with animals or unfixed animal tissue. The form can be found on the Occupational Health website under Animal Contact.
