The following tips and tricks apply specifically to the IACUC module in Click.
Your research team will house all of your protocols. So a general team name is recommended such as “Smith Lab” or “Cardiology Team.”
When creating your protocol, if your funding is pending (i.e., the application/funding request has not been submitted to the sponsor yet), use question 2 Identify the internal funding source details on the Funding Sources page to provide a description of the funding.
Once the funding source is approved, it will be your responsibility to amend the protocol to reflect this change.
In addition, funding source titles will appear on the approval letters, so please be thoughtful when entering the name of an internal funding source.
The scientific merit evaluation of externally funding research is completed by the funding agency. For internal funding sources, an evaluation of scientific merit is an institutional requirement.
On the Funding Sources page, selection of Internal Funding for question 3 requires an individual to be named that evaluated scientific merit of the research. Identify this individual, their credentials, and their institutional association to create an efficient IACUC review process.
Select "Advanced," use percent sign (%) to perform wildcard searches.
Students will not have access to Click immediately – students are required to login themselves first to become available for selection. If a student is not currently enrolled in classes, an additional request has to be completed. See Click Access
For protocol team members that are not MSU personnel, please complete the external team member form (docx) to demonstrate training and qualifications and attach it to the Protocol Team Members page.
Substances are defined within Click as a selectable items for use with your protocol. You may select the standard substances and/or create team substances that will be specific to your research team.
In order to use a substance, a substance administration procedure must be created and added to your experiment within your protocol.
On the Experiments page, place a number (01, 02… 10, 11, etc.) ahead of each experiment title to demonstrate the chronological order of activities. Providing the numbered experiments will facilitate a more efficient review process as the system defaults to alphabetically ordering the experiment titles.
If your protocol involves breeding, complete the Breeding page questions. Then, add the values from question 3 on the Breeding page to the Actual Animal Count (located on the Animal Justification page) to include these animals for each species. Use the Jump-To menu to navigate between these pages.
In order to send the protocol to the IACUC Office, select the Submit activity along the left side of the workspace and ensure the bubble shifts to Pre-Review.
The PI may designate someone on the protocol team to submit the protocol. Select the Assign PI Proxy activity along the left side of the protocol workspace.
