Vaporized Hydrogen Peroxide PPE Sterilization

April 27, 2020

Campus Animal Resources has successfully coordinated and tested conversion of MSU Building J to bulk sterilized used personal protection equipment. The success of the process has been noticed nationally, as well as being appreciated by local providers. MSU will be able to process almost 15,000 pieces of PPE per day.

The project was started in early April. MSU Attending Veterinarian and Director of Campus Animal Resources, F. Claire Hankenson, offerred use of the CAR vaporized hydrogen peroxide fogger. That equipment had been used regularly to sterilize animal research equipment and supplies. The process required coordination between several MSU units including MSU Extension, Environmental Health & Safety, Sparrow and Henry Ford Health Systems.
